Channel Tunnel Rail Link

The Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL) is a project to construct a 108 km high-speed railway line from London through Kent to the British end of the Channel Tunnel.

In 2002 we secured a £4.2 million contract to install CFA piles through Rainham Marshes in Essex. This required the construction of 2,800 no. piles to support the rail tracks and a number of structures. Piles ranged in size from 350mm to 900mm diameter with depths up to 26m. Five rigs were required on site at the peak of the contract.

The majority of piles were installed within the railway's zone of influence, with possession works carried out for piles within 3m of the railway.
