Cliff Stabilisation, Lyme Regis
Lyme Regis lies on an actively eroding stretch of the west coast and faces the constant challenge of coastal erosion and landslipping. Problems have got worse over the last 100 years, with many properties being destroyed and damaged.
Carillion Piling secured this emergency project requiring 750mm and 1050mm diameter piles at the top of the unstable cliff to limit future slippage. We undertook the piling using a modern and compact rotary piling rig. This type of rig was necessary to keep within strict surcharge load limits on the cliff top.
Large diameter piles were installed with minimal vibration even through hard bands of limestone.
Piling rig used: Mait HR100
